necklace making: hide the knots: earn money : creativity beads metal bone thread stone rock

Posted on June 16th, 2009 by admin

This eliminates the problem of hiding knots when making necklaces and earrings.Out, out knot! If you use clear nail polish you won’t even have to hide the knots. You will barely be able to see them. These knots will NEVER loosen or ever come apart the polish holds them securely in place. Use your teeth to pull the line to make the knots tight. Snip the excess fishing line right down to the knot with the nail clippers. Use fine fishing line and the knots will be tiny. Make your own pendants as I have. Use colored thread, stones, bones, wood or whatever your creative mind can conceive. You can use colored nail polish as paint. Nail polish is does not always cover the color underneath well but it will make a shiny coat in colors that you can’t otherwise find. Another thing about nail polish is that you can use it to draw or paint things on fabric and it won’t wash out. The color may fade after many washes but you can always touch up. I have a shirt that I painted a word on using a stencil and silver and gold nail polish. I have worn the shirt and washed it frequently for the last six years and the word written with the nail polish has never washed out. I drew the outline of the letters with a stencil for making signs from the dollar store and I applied the nail polish with the tip of a needle, one tiny blob at a time. No beaded necklace is sacred. SACRIFICE IT. Make a note of the design and you will be able to reconstruct it later. Cut up all your necklaces and turn them into new ones of your own design. It takes longer to decide on a bead sequence than it takes to make the necklace. Leave a little slack in the necklace. If the beads are too tight together they will not fall properly when you bend the necklace to wear it. Practice makes perfect. You can get different lobster clips and loops and stretchy necklace line at a dollar store. Go to Value Village, Goodwill, or thrift shops or even the dollar store to buy cheap necklaces with beautiful beads. Almost all the beads in my video came from Value Village. Why buy one necklace when for the same price you can get 6 or 7. You will have an excess of beads you can trade with your friends. You could even sell your creations. Great gifts you can make in less than half hour.
