Jewelry-making Tutorial: How to Make a Floating Illusion Necklace

Posted on July 26th, 2009 by admin

This style of necklace is one of my absolute favorites. So simple and elegant!

The beads on the necklace look as if they are “floating” because the wire is hard to see. Crimp beads are used as “stoppers” so the floating beads will stay in place.

I was first introduced to this necklace style by this website: http://www.beadage.net/projects/illusion.shtml Thank you, Emma!

Materials list:
- Beading board (if you do not have one of these then a ruler would be sufficient)
- Beading wire (I used Accu-flex .019″ size)
- Crimp beads (I used twenty-four 1.5mm round)
- Crimp covers (I used 3mm)
- Some beads (I used eleven 8mm beads)
- Clasp (I used a barrel clasp)
- Wire cutters
- Crimping pliers (or flat-nose pliers)

Sources for materials:
Beading wire, crimp beads, crimp covers, and beads are from http://www.firemountain.com. Clasp from http://www.nasco.com.

Karla Kam - DG3 Art Gel Collage Pendants

Posted on July 1st, 2009 by admin

I am not quite the scrapbooking type, but I have managed to hone in on a collage like skill, skill maybe stretching it, but little works of art yes, you know art is subjective… I will demonstrate this great dimentional adhesive, DG3 Art Gel. It is used like the Diamond Glaze but on a larger and deeper scale. Some scrapbooking paper a few pewter charms and these great frame pendants in antique silver can turn your creations in to art!

Elastoma Bracelet Video

Posted on June 28th, 2009 by admin

I am so excited about this product! A great find in Tucson, much like the Magical Crimp Forming Tool from last year, same vendor in fact! This is an elastic product that can be crimped! It takes some practice, so please do not cry over spilled beads…
