How do you get hair dye off of sterling silver?

Posted on July 3rd, 2009 by admin

Today I dyed my hair, and somehow I got a small dot of brown hair dye on my sterling silver ring (yes, I was wearing gloves). I managed to get some of it off, but there is still a bit of hair dye left on it. Does anyone know how to remove the hair dye without ruining my ring? Thanks!
The toothpaste worked! Thanks a lot!

try some toothpaste (the paste, not the gel kind) or…get some Tarnix or some silver polish.
(both bought at almost any store…)

Try jewelry cleaner. Should work. There is this stuff, in a red container……sorry don’t remember the name. But, it’s only about four dollars or soemthing.

I know when I went to a beauty shop once the cosmetologist told me that cigarette ashes gets dye off your skin, which I’ve found to be true. So, so I’d try rubbing cigarette ashes on it.
