How can I remove melted plastic of a Sterling Silver necklace?

Posted on November 22nd, 2009 by admin

I had a phone battery and a necklace in my coat pocket, the gold strips on the battery sent a current through my necklace melting it to the inside of my coat. After yanking it out my necklace now has plastic stuck to it. How can I remove it without damaging the Sterling Silver necklace?

A candle and cloth will do with a pair of pliers to hold the necklace is more practical.
