They look like they would be really annoying for the runners because they are jumping around on their necks. Also why are they all pretty much identical gold fine chain necklaces?

Good luck charm that maybe was passed down or a gift from someone special. Helps give them confidence and motivation, making them strive for the best

   Some wear ear rings, and other jewelry. They are mostly young, so it is a fashion statement, there is no real reason to wear any kind of jewelry.

   Apparantly the necklaces don’t actually slow them down with wind resistance. I think perhaps the runners are used to having them around their necks.
