How is the Retail Jewelry business doing in Michigan?

I use to live in michigan 18 years ago. We moved to california and now that I have children we are thinking to move back to Michigan. Yes I know Michigan isn’t what it use to be but it is a better place to raise a family then California.
I own a Retail Jewelry store in California. Does anyone know how the jewelry stores are doing in Michigan? Especially with gold prices so high. Is the slow economy effecting jewelry sales?
Should I look for another business? Any suggesstions? Thanks.
the slow economy here is affecting everything; restaurants, stores, housing, activities. i wouldn’t suggest coming here to start a business especially in retail. i guess if you went to one of the wealthier suburbs you could possibly make it work but it is a very risky time to start a business here!
