I guess like the other person said, just watch the cat one day & see where he takes it. Probably under the bed, bureau, or TV cabinet if he can fit, or behind any of those. That's a tough one. My Mom has a cat that takes anything small she leaves on the table. She always finds it either under the sideboard or the refrigerator! You'll have to do some super sleuthing. The next time you have a day alone with the cat, plant something and then watch how he plays with it. I bet he will lead you right to your jewelry. I hope so!
