Where in the UK (ideally online) can I source interesting pendants for jewellery making?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

I’m talking about things like enamel postcards, teacups, Eiffel towers and ruby slippers the sort of charms and pendants you’d see on necklaces in Accessorize or Urban Outfitters?

There’s a few people selling these sorts of necklaces on eBay but I can’t figure out where they’re getting the pendants from!

Is there a wholesaler I should know about?!

Help would be much appreciated!

Try Fire Mountain Gems - I believe they ship everywhere. I’ve seen charms in themes that you could use for a pendant. Also, if you want to get really creative, they sell the materials & tools to make your own silver jewelry. I’m going to buy that sometime this year. Check their link. They have a great staff that can answer questions. And they have all kinds of charts, how-to videos etc…

Why do all male figure skaters wear those gold chains and pendants?

Posted on February 25th, 2010 by admin

I don’t always see crosses on them. I’ve seen the Chinese with luck charms on theirs. What’s Evgeni or Johnny Weir wearing then?

They were actually talking about that during the pairs the other night… there was a comment about one of the Chinese men wearing his gold chain during skating, and it’s because in Chinese culture gold is considered lucky/to bring good fortune, and the Chinese have long been superstitious. Therefore they wear the chains… My guess is either other cultures have similar beliefs, or they take a page from the Chinese book and wear them because, hey, what can it hurt?

How Scalar energy is embed itself into objects & how Scalar Pendants are helpful?

Posted on February 23rd, 2010 by admin

We see lot of advertisements on the subject and such pendant sale is a roaring business. If scientifically proven, why not governments think of large scale manufacturing and distribute it to every citizens?
Can anybody, who have actually used it, preferably those who have a science background, give their opinion?

Key phrase: "If scientifically proven".

Another key phrase: "scalar energy". WTF? That makes no sense, sorry. I doubt that anyone who has much of a science background would use such a thing. It’s woo, and it’s rather sad that sales are so good. Snake-oil, without any sort of science (other than a placebo effect) behind it.

how do you connect pendants to necklace chains?

Posted on January 8th, 2010 by admin

i want to make some necklaces. how can you connect the pendant to the chain?

Try a jump ring. You might be able to find them at Wal-Mart. Essentially, it’s a little metal ring that isn’t welded shut. All you have to do is open it a little, slip in the pendant and the chain, then close it again. Use pliers for the really small and stiff rings. Larger ones can be done by hand.

Does this pair of gemstone pendants work together nicely on a necklace, and for my being?

Black Onyx - "The stone of self mastery and self control"
with tournaline, the gemstone of poets and teachers?

Note: My goal is to become an author and my zodiac sign is the Capricorn.

In general, they are a good selection. Since Tourmaline comes in a large variety of colors it will be excellent to mix with the Black Onyx.

What do you make with those filigree cage pendants?

Posted on October 26th, 2009 by admin

Has any-one ever seen those filigree cage pendants at Wal-Mart? I think you can open them up. What do you make with those? Do you put some-thing in-side? Does any-one have any pictures of necklaces made with them?

Take your jewelry pliers, gently pry two of the little bars apart, insert a bead, charm, orsomething that will fit inside, and gently close them back together. Hang them on a chain or leather cord with a jumpring to make a necklace.
