    Without the Catalyst it will take FOREVER to harden.

    if you have to work with resin, indoors just make sure you have good ventilation in the room,the smell is not that bad but not good to inhale, i also suggest that you wear gloves, as it is very difficult to remove. resin is good for many projects, if you follow the safety instructions, i have even used it for fake stained glass windows. check out “happyauer” or my sight on the tube for the all in one product bought from USA. this is not a sales pitch i live in Sweden, just want to help!

    well, the catalyst …
    well, the catalyst is what really drives the whole resin reaction, so you would need it. you may not need as much as she applied, but you would need it.

    i think if you do them outside (so as not to inhale any noxious fumes) and have an adult help you sand it over, it should be pretty safe

    if she means polyurethane it is not meant to be exposed long periods of time to skin can be toxic and harmful
