Where do I sell my sterling silver platter?

Posted on December 13th, 2009 by admin

I have a large, sterling silver, not silver plate, tray that I would like to sell. Where would the best place be for me to sell it and get the best price. I also have 2 smaller sterling silver trays that I would like to sell as well.

Without a doubt… try the SIlver and Gold Exchange. They pay the most per gram of anyone out there as far as I can tell… and they specialize in silver. They have a live price chart that shows what they pay, they pay for shipping ad insurance, and they contact you with their offer before they pay you. If you don’t like it, they send the silver back at their expense. I’ve dealt with them several times (I am a part time antiques dealer and yardsaler) and they have been great to deal with. Ebay is a pain and the Ebay and Paypal fees are so high now that you make more just selling to the Silver and Gold Exchange. The website is at http://SilverAndGoldExchange.com

How much is a troy once of 14k gold worth?

Posted on December 9th, 2009 by admin

I have about 40 grams of 14k gold. I am assuming that is about 1.3 troy ounces if I am understanding the calculation correctly. I was offered $730 for the 40g or 1.3 troy onces coming out to $560 a troy once. Is that fair?

You can look up the spot price of 24K anytime:

http://www.kitco.com

Prices can change rapidly, though, so check before you buy or sell.

Since your gold is 14K multiply the weight by 14/24, so 40/31 X 14/24 = 0.7526 troy ounces of 24K gold in your 40 grams of 14K gold.

Spot price is somewhere near $1200US as I write this, so spot value would be roughly $900.

You can expect to sell at a discount, the purchaser should be allowed to make a profit. Only you can decide if 18% is too much.

Where can i buy a stand that i could hang my long necklaces on?

Posted on December 9th, 2009 by admin

I have loads of long costume necklaces (heavy) and nowhere to store them. They just keep getting tangled up and i forget to wear them with not being able to see them on display. I am looking for some sort of stand / ornament that i could drape my necklaces around without them getting tangled. Could anybody point me in the right direction?

Many thanks in advance!

urban outfitters has jewelry stands. For a cheaper alternative get a thin piece of wood, some nails that are the same size, hit them in a straight line and you’re finished. You could even spray paint the nails a different color if you want.

What is a good jewelry brand that I can buy for my girlfriend?

Posted on December 6th, 2009 by admin

We will be going on 4 months when Christmas comes around. I have pretty much made up my mind that I am getting her jewelry. I don’t want to spend a fortune but i also don’t want to be the cheap boyfriend. Girls let me know what you would want from your boyfriend. Let me know if you would rather a necklace or a bracelet and what style and all that stuff. And by the way we are both 15 almost 16 Thanks and i appreciate it.

Im a guy but i highly suggest Zales. You can get something for 60 bucks or 70 bucks that makes a great gift and looks really nice.

What is the bracelet worn by Nicole Kidman in the movie Birth?

Posted on December 6th, 2009 by admin

Nicole Kidman wears this beautiful gold bracelet with tiny pearls that dangle in her movie, "Birth".. I thought it might be a "vine pearl" but it’s not. I have checked Tiffany and Mikimoto Pearls since that is where the movie credits the jewelry. Has anyone seen this or know where I can find it?

if you are finding jewelry, here is good website;

nice name brand jewelry and accessories are for your choice.
Hope you will find your favorite.

Why do sterling silver curb bracelets vary so much in price depending on the jeweller?

Posted on December 4th, 2009 by admin

I am looking to buy one (or ask for one for Christmas!) so that it can be the starter for a charm bracelet that I can add to over the years.
They all seem to be 925 sterling silver, all curbed, all with padlock - so why the differences in price?
If something is silver, surely it’s silver - there isn’t a quality difference? In which case, why would someone pay £70 when you can get the exact same thing from somewhere else for £20?
Thanks.

The price of a sterling silver curb chain primarily depends on the weight of silver that goes in. In order to compare between suppliers and chains you must ask for the weight of the chain.
Then, of course, there are price differences between sellers. The price will drop as you get close to the wholesale source.

I can recommend my source of sterling silver curb chains:

To finish the chain, select your preferred end caps (go for the crimp if you don’t solder) and your favorite clasps and charms. You can find them all on Pasternak Findings website: http://www.pasternakfindings.com
