It does sound like they swapped it. What scum. I'd speak to them and make sure it wasn't a mistake... maybe they had another they were working on that looked the same? I'd report them to the better business bureau as well. It's easy enough to check if a diamond is real- you can even take it in to a pawn shop and make sure the diamond isn't cubic zirconia or something.
