Well gold is at the highest levels it has ever been so in terms of timing this is a good time to sell. There are other factors to consider. As our ring is 14k it will be worth less than an 18k, but obviously more than a 10k ring. As for the diamond, I am not sure.
The condition/size of the ring does not affect the scrap gold value of the ring.
It really depends on what type of ring it is, engagement ring, solitaire setting. It would be better to sell it as a ring, because although the gold may not be worth that much, the style may be appreciated and therefore more coveted (meaning more $$ for you) http://twitter.com/brilliancecorp References : http://www.brilliance.com/
The cash for gold places are interested in the gold but not the diamonds. 14K gold is only 58% gold, and the ring probably doesn’t weigh much without the diamond. If the diamond is of high quality, it may be worth far more than the gold in the ring. In general, the ring is worth more as a ring than as a lump of gold and a diamond. A jeweler can appraise it for you.
